To Be Rescheduled: Life of A Shepherd - Glorious Church
  • Overview

    Theme: “Glorious Church” Ephesians 5:27

Join me, Bob Davis, Paul Washer, Anthony Mathenia, and Jason Dohm in Radford, VA (hosted at the headquarters of HeartCry Missionary Society) to consider how we ought to conduct ourselves in the house of God and to enjoy the fellowship and encouragement of being with other church leaders who are wrestling with a common set of challenges.

If you are a church leader, or are aspiring and/or training to be a church leader, please come and be with us to consider how you can faithfully fulfill your duty to foster biblically ordered churches.

I’m sure you can smell the foul winds of unsound man-centered doctrine and practice swirling around evangelicalism today.

In an age of man’s inventions running roughshod over local churches, and churchless “Christianity,” it is critical that we have our feet on solid ground.

Jesus claims personal ownership of the church, calling her, “my church,” built on the foundation of the apostles (Matt. 16:15-19). The true church truly is, the Church of Jesus Christ., and we dare not do our own thing with her.

Each year the NCFIC convenes gatherings of church leaders in various parts of the US. We bring men together for fellowship, teaching, prayer and singing for one purpose, “to take heed,” and to continue to cry out to God for awakening. As the shepherds go, so goes the church. Therefore, it is critical that we hold to Paul’s admonition to Timothy, “take heed to yourself and your doctrine,” 1 Timothy 4:16.

At this conference, we will examine the beauty and glory of the Church of Jesus Christ communicated in the Word of God.

Paul wrote to Timothy so that he might know how to conduct himself in the household of God (1 Tim 3:15). He made it clear that there is only one pattern for the church – the pattern the apostles established.

This pattern is communicated in the great confessions of faith, particularly in the London Baptist Confession of 1689, chapter 26 and the Westminster Confession of faith, chapter 25. At this conference, we will examine some of these confessional matters as well as explain the implications of the doctrine for the ordering of our lives in the Church of Jesus Christ.

The whole of history from eternity past, through eternity future, was designed by God to be the theater of His rescue of a bride for His Son. In this sense, the story of the church is the purpose of history.

How important are church structure and worship and pastoral care in the church? To illustrate, let me paraphrase the Puritan Samuel Hieron on the danger ministers are in compared to other professions. He said that the miller would damage your meal, the tailor your coat, the lawyer your money, the physician your body, but the minister is one who will be a party harming your soul.

–Samuel Hieron, Aarons Bells A-sounding (1623), quoted in J. William Black, Reformation Pastors: Richard Baxter and the Ideal of the Reformed Pastor (Waynesboro, GA: Paternoster Press, 2004), 35.

Come join us in Radford as we immerse ourselves in the doctrine of a “Glorious Church”.

Who is invited? Pastors, church officers, men training for ministry, students and missionaries.

All three meals on Saturday will be provided.
